Hello All.
We are the members of UNP Reading Circle Community (RCC) from English Department, Faculty of Languages and Arts, State University of Padang.

Now, we'd like to tell you about our activity in the first meeting.
Since it's our first meeting, which is also our first day forming RCC, it feels like an "opening ceremony".

We haven't discusses any reading yet, we just got an introduction about Reading Circle from our advisor, Miss Lina.
Miss Lina always wanted to have an activity where she could do something beneficial for her study and her life in a fun way ever since she was still in college. Then, when she studied abroad for her Master degree, she found the communities where the students seem not doing anything, but actually they think critically. It inspired her to make one too.
She hoped that the students could spend time more wisely by having meaningful discussion, not just wasting their time talking about something meaningless. Therefore, she wanted the students to have a community that is fun but beneficial. That's why she created Reading Circle Community (RCC).
What Miss Lina wanted could come true after she proposed that idea to us, her students in Extensive Reading class, and we accepted.
That's how this community created, began with having five volunteers members.

She also explained that there are some roles in reading circle. Each role has its own responsibility.
In Reading Circle, we have:
-Group discussion leader (GDL) : a facilitator in the group, to keep the discussion flowing
-Summarizer : present the summary of reading
-Connector : find connections between the text and the real world
-Word Master (WM) : find some difficult words in the reading
-Passage Person (PP) : look for well-wrtiten or key passage in the story
-Cultural Connector (CC) : find the cultural or historical background of the text

But, you need to know that RCC does not limit the role of the members. If the members want to have more than one role, it's fine.

Surely, RCC will be fun and challenging.
Wasting our time with having a fun reading, no force, no time limit, and we can also share our thought, and try to think critically.

If you want to know more about Reading Circle Community, you can look at the introduction here .

And, RCC kindly invites you who are interested to join.

Thanks (^o^)/
