Hello All.
We are the members of UNP Reading Circle Community
(RCC) from English Department, Faculty of Languages and Arts, State University
of Padang.
This community was first established on February
13, 2014 by five volunteers (students) who were majoring in English Education
at UNP. They were Yuri Hardianti (Yuri), Cayo Islami (Adek), Anisa Wahyuni
(Nisa), Elvarisa Adriani (Ica), and Novia Ertika PS (Via). They were a few of
students who took course of Extensive
Reading with Ms Leni Marlina in 2013.
The first idea of establishing Reading Circle
Community (RCC) at UNP was offered by the current advisor of RCC, Ms. Leni
Marlina (Lina), one of lecturers at English Department UNP.
The motto of RCC English Departmet UNP is
“Achieving Better Future by Having Fun Reading”.
The general aim of RCC English Departmet UNP is
to help its members in improving their English and developing their critical
thinking while studying formally at English Department UNP.
Reading Circle Community (RCC) is a community where
its members can improve their English skill by sharing and discussing their
opinions about their interpretation of what they read. Furthermore RCC is a fun
community since there is no compulsion on what to be read. In this community,
the members may read many types of reading sources that are interesting for
their community. However, there should be one text for each meeting. The reading
materials are such as fictions, non-fictions and academic texts. By reading and
discussing the reading texts, the member of RCC can improve their English;
develop their critical thinking, and maintain their relationships with others.
Moreover, RCC activity will enhance its members hard skills and soft skills in
English which is highly required in working field.
The first meeting or activity of RCC UNP was held
at Listening Laboratory UNP, on Thursday, Feb 13, 2014. The further activities
of RCC is going to be done at FBS campus with schedule which has been agreed by
its members. The place and the time of RCC activity will depends on the spare
time of its members. At least the members of RCC will discuss on a reading
material once a week in campus.
Since RCC was just established recently, the
members start their activity by reading and discussing Children’s Literature. The RCC activity for each meeting will be
reported through this blog. The current members of RCC and the participants of
each RCC meeting will be reported through this blog.
RCC kindly invites those are interested to join.
